Title:  Scholarship Manager

Summary of Position

The Hispanic College Fund supports promising students from high school, through college, and into the professional workforce.  The Scholarship Manager administers the scholarship component of HCF's programs, ensuring all portions of the scholarship application cycle run effectively and efficiently. 

Primary responsibilities include managing the scholarship application, review, selection, awarding, and disbursement processes.  The Scholarship Manager also oversees the accurate tracking of all constituent data for the organization.

Essential/Primary Job Functions

  • Work with Director of Communications and field directors to devise and implement national and regional outreach campaigns to increase number of scholarship applicants in desired fields
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of application documents throughout scholarship application cycle
  • Maintain meticulous applicant records
  • Manage online scholarship application system
  • Identify and decrease barriers to scholarship application completion
  • Respond to all applicant inquiries in a timely manner
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for scholarship review committee
  • Manage the matching and selection of scholars based on program requirements
  • Maintain timeline for field directors detailing their role in the scholarship application process
  • Maintain scholarship policies & procedures manual
  • Serve as advisor to a select number of scholars
  • Assist with annual student surveys of all program participants
  • Oversee scholarship program interns and volunteers
  • Stay up to date on current scholarship trends/studies
  • Assist college program team with other programs as needed
  • Develop and maintain Raiser's Edge data entry standards
  • Train staff on Raiser's Edge usage
  • Update student and volunteer contact information for all programs in Raiser's Edge database on annual basis

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree - all fields considered, IT-related a plus
  • Dedication to HCF's mission
  • Fluent in spoken and written Spanish
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Extremely organized
  • Self-starter able to work independently or in teams
  • Comfortable learning new technology
  • Familiarity with relational databases, including MS Access
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge and QuickBooks a plus

In 2009, the Hispanic College Fund awarded approximately $3 million to 592 students nationwide. More than 80 percent of the scholarships that were awarded were for students studying business, science, technology, engineering, and math.

HCF Scholars include some of the nation's top college students. Through the HCF network, students have started careers at companies like Lockheed Martin, Estee Lauder Companies, and Google.

Who Can Apply?

The minimum eligibility criteria for HCF scholarship programs are:

Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident residing in the 50 states or Puerto Rico.

Must have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Must plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student from Fall 2010 - Spring 2011.

Must plan to be enrolled in a college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
